Winter's coming--all too soon. This fall I am concentrating on winter scenes with lots of texture. The scene at right is currently shown at the Loft Gallery in Clarksburg, On. The media include sand, acrylic polymer, and a few things I won't share.
The second in this series will be on display at my studio this Thanksgiving weekend. The Blue Mountains Art Tour is on this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Joining me in Thornbury will be Miro Omes, oils, and Susan Armstrong, beaded jewelry and paintings in various media. There's plenty to see, and three colourful artists as well!

Artist Tour, Thornbury/Clarksburg

Getting ready for the studio tour this weekend. The tent is going up, the art is being hung and the weather looks good enough. I'm looking forward to having some visitors and getting some feedback on my creations. It's always a kick to hear what they say.
Here's one no one has seen yet. It makes me think that there is a beautiful, peaceful way of being ahead of me, if I can only get there.
Come visit me and my guest artists, Miro Omes and Brian Barker this weekend!

The Apple Farmer

The farmer is on constant guard for his precious trees. This one is the founder of the orchard, still on duty from his heavenly home.

Spring

This is "Spring." New life erupts, stored energy is released. Growth is powered by the sun, sustained by rain, nourished by the earth.

Created for Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts' HEART Gala. Presented and sold on February 13, 2010
This painting is an interpretation of a photo taken three blocks from my home on Georgian Bay. When I started, publicity for the 2010 games had barely hit the airwaves. It was auctioned the day after the opening ceremonies in Vancouver. By the time the games were over, the painting had become another keepsake of a spectacular Canadian event. I am very proud of my adopted country and I'm glad the rest of the world got a chance to see us, to taste the spirit and humor of the people, to view the breathtaking beauty of the landscape, and to see our athletes on the world stage.
